SLA Gives Back at #SLA2015

As Chair of the 2015 Annual Conference Advisory Council for the Special Libraries Association, it was important to  me to incorporate an element of giving into our conference. Both the Advisory Council members and Local Arrangements Committee agreed, and we set out to find charities that would resonate with our members.

  • If you follow most SLA members on social media,  you are bound to see photos of their pets. Animal rescue and love of pets seems to be something in common with many members. Personally, as the “pet parent” of two rescued shelter dogs, this cause is very close to my heart.

SLA Gives Back: Toiletries for RESPOND Inc

  • New England’s first domestic violence agency and the second oldest in the nation, RESPOND, Inc. is a pioneer in the movement to end domestic violence. At SLA 2015, we will be collecting toiletries for RESPOND’s emergency shelter. Both full size and travel size toiletries are welcome — a perfect opportunity for SLA attendees to easily bring a few items from home or purhcase them while they are visiting Boston. Start collecting shampoo, conditioner, moisturizing lotion, facewash, soap and other toiletries now; RESPOND Inc. will put them to good use.

Please help us leave Boston a better place than when we arrive for the 2015 Annual Conference & INFO-EXPO this June 14-16, 2015.
